Garage Sale Saturdays…The Hunt Is On!

Saturday’s “To Do” list depends on Head to Currently have!
Planning my route the evening before, testing my gps on my cell phone and circling the yard sale listings from the paper are a Friday night ritual.
The community I live in is often a “Planned Community”. So that it is pre-planned and strategically presented. It can be split up into Sections and every section is presented by instructions. The “P” section consists of streets beginning with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the drift! From the P section, there are numerous retirees and young professionals. The W section is most likely the rich and ritzy area of town Then a B section is older and sadly, more shabby. storage units auctions is set with young couples with children. The S Section is south of town and regarded from the boondocks because the lots are larger and it feels more country. Lastly, the C Section is the place the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats plus much more boaters live. Each section possesses its own characteristics and community. Although many of us are section of the larger town, these “sections” develop over town to get some ambience. The location with lots of children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” portion of town has no street lights and is off of the beaten track from the most town. But, the town all together has regulations and laws that individuals all try and abide.

We have been allowed Two yard sales a year. We are necessary to buy a $5 permit per of these sales and our signage is acquired and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It’s not a conducive atmosphere for the Garage Sale Business from your own home!
Some people have ignored all the rules, communicated using their neighbors with regards to their needs and plans and actually come up with a fairly good living donning the yard sale event monthly! However, if they get caught disobeying the policies, they feign innocence on the rules and promise to not ever try it again! But, a few weeks later when everything has calmed down again, there may suddenly be another garage sale! Many people in the neighborhood could care less and life continues on!
About the Wednesday ahead of the Friday/Saturday Garage Sale rush, a long list of all sales is released in our local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, date and time of sale as well as a number of “hook” goods that will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour in the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave for that sales until around 11am since the majority of these sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, by the time I get on the sale, the folks will be ready to unload all of the their stuff for virtually any price you offer them. Because i am NEVER searching for anything in particular… just real deals, I’ve been capable to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to sew clothes for a under-developed nation! And that i purchased for approximately $5!!! I have a weekly budget of about $20 for yard sales and only maybe once or twice have I ever gone over that amount!!!
So, because of this weekend, I’m plotting out about 10 sales inside a 10 mile range of home. I’ll leave at 11 am and stay back by 3pm and that i know….The back seat from the car will likely be LOADED!!!!
