Recommended to adorn formal water ponds is often a container of some kind, either empty or planted up. This can be as fundamental as ordinary clay plant-pot, filled up with geraniums, or whatever you will find or lug home from foreign parts. It is actually very easy to pick-up some very attractive pots, even just in the tourist spots, at cheap pricing, and so long as they don’t exceed unwanted weight allowance, it will be worth the effort of getting it.
Certainly one of my favourite gardens carries a large Turkish coffee-pot, of beautifully greened copper, standing by the pool. It was rescued from a closing down cafe in a country town and, despite its exotic looks, was very much in your house in this Hampshire garden.
Some simple urns and pitchers may be used, added to their side. Close to the swimming pool, being a gentle fountain, with water pouring from your top, and returned, by some discreet piping as well as a submersible pump. The absolute right place to watch out for such as auctions, jumble sales, junk shops, etc. Even quite unpromising shapes can be used the premise for the skills. Hideous colours might be painted over, ugly shapes could be utilized as armatures and built upon, etc.
For informal water garden ponds, there are numerous choices: plants, stones, boulders, pebbles, logs or various combinations of these, with aspects of turf and maybe a bench, of some rugged sort, so that one can possibly sit and meditate. This last, naturally, could be useful, inside a more sophisticated shape, through the formal pool.
The irregular shaped water pond is not the location for statues, except just possibly an exceptionally strong-shaped abstract, more boulder-like than spiky. A fascinating natural boulder or rock could look right, so could a log or part of driftwood. Anyone fortunate enough to look for a large fossil, just like an ammonite, could do it by the pool to determine if it looked happy, even though the morbid might settle for a cattle-skull within the Hostas.
Fountains do not belong here and besides, the Waterlilies don’t much maintain moving water, although when the pool is big enough you might have water gurgling gently in to the pool from a stream, natural or man-made, while planting waterlilies in a calm patch in the opposite side.
