How weddings have changed within the decades! From your handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a straightforward wedding car to expensive and enormous wedding cars; three course meals to course meals; one-three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
While we’re talking about the second, wedding speeches continue to be a fundamental part of being married and guests do enjoy hearing them, discussing them before, during and indeed after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered before the meal, during the meal after the meal, yet it’s of your strong opinion the father of the groom speech should be delivered as soon as the meal. I understand that for many bridal party speakers i.e. Father from the Bride Speech, Father with the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (the 5 main speakers), they would would rather hold the wedding speeches prior to meal, so they can enjoy their meal (many of them are spending money for it!). However, it’s all about the invited guests and just how many of them (and even the marriage venue staff) would choose the marriage speeches to get delivered following your meal for several reasons, some of which include:
The invited guests are already fed and watered and aren’t paying attention to wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which may be the case before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served in the agreed time (introduce the marriage speeches before the meal in addition to their could be a delay of Quarter-hour to at least one.5 hours, driving your kitchen staff crazy attempting to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The wedding ceremony speeches behave as the transition through the meal on the dancing (without a penny happening after the meal, people are expecting ‘a few words’ being shared concerning the Bride & Groom then they know they’re able to get up, move about, take a rest, go for a walk, see a bar…)
It’s a challenge for moms and dads with the Bride & Groom to communicate in public areas, as most of them would not be used of it. So, they might, if they so wished, speak before the / their meal.
There should be some form of formal wedding speech(es) following your meal…
