Remember when going back to school meant investing in a few notebooks, a whole new box of crayons, and new shoes? If you wore a uniform university, you probably got among those too; otherwise, you still have a couple of new outfits. That’s it.
Well, times have changed. The supply list now contains things that was once furnished by the colleges – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child requires a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders and a calculator. In case you have two children so you shop the sales, you’ll probably still turn out coughing up more than $100.00 in supplies alone. Knowning that doesn’t even count the brand new clothes your kids “has to have” or the fees which are required for art projects, lab costs, etc.
Don’t even get me moving on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your child needs for school. Will it ever end?
Below are great tips for saving money on paint canvas in 2010.
1) Recycle – Determine everything you have in your house. It is likely you have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. already there the house. Put these together in the pencil box and will save you a few bucks.
2) Re-use – Kids feel that last year’s backpack has to go, but a quick trip through the appliance may give it new life.
3) Reduce – Does your child have a very notebook from recently which has three pages of written material inside it and 77 blank pages left? Have you find this notebook in the trash can – or worse – the trash? Now could be a great time to discuss waste and keeping it low by getting probably the most use possible out of every item.
