1. A: Hawthorne effect. The name comes from studies of workers at the factory called Hawthorne Works during the early section of the last century. The study learned that when workers know they’re being monitored within the experiment, the final results of the experiment tend to be different than those achieved by workers taking part in much the same experiment who’re unaware actually being monitored.
